Early morning rolled over London, its first rays of sunlight signaling the start of a new day. Melissa turned off the alarm clock grumbling for the abrupt interruption of sleep. Getting ready for work wasn't her favorite thing to do but somehow she needed to pay her diversions and the bills. In addition the first period of the day was not her best, waking up in a bad mood constantly as she tried to clear up and focus on her tasks. Her job truly was boring. As much as she liked having only the most essential responsibilities a receptionist was usually due, seeing people enter or exit the building after several hours became quite stressing. Transfering phone calls, distributing copies for every department, typing reports for her boss as well as for coworkers and clients. These few duties for a total of 8 hours from Monday to Friday. Was she ever thankful for her burgeoning personal life.
Damon sipped his herbal tea and Melissa drank from her coffee whilst narrating her trip to Las Vegas. He had terribly missed her. Those days out in Europe and the Middle East were entertaining but without her they lacked excitement. He did have a chance to call her over but decided against it to give her time to rest, as well as ponder on their situation. Constant nights out withstanding, had she thought of him? Did she miss him even with lots of surely good looking guys on the streets, hotels and clubs? "Yes, I could've slept with anyone but I didn't, I couldn't. Those guys are Zero compared to you." How he loved it when he heard things like that. But was it his ego doing its work, or the arousal caused by her dulcet tone? "So anyway, I had a great time with my friends but I couldn't wait to come back. There's work to do, places to go to, birthdays to celebrate...oh wait, there's only mine coming up." This last comment was made to herself in murmur but Damon heard her and exclaimed: "Oh really, is your birthday coming up?" "Yeah, it's on August 21st. I mean, the 21st of August. Sorry, gotta remember you mention the day first, just like we do in Spanish." "So you're turning 26. That we have to celebrate it." "Oh no please, I don't want you to spend money on me, it's not worth it..." "Don't say that, you are very much worth it love. And who says I'll spend a million quid? It'll only be what's essential so don't you worry about it dear." "You sure?" As a sign of reassurement, he leaned forward and kissed her tenderly. "Do I look uncertain?" His confidence convinced her and there was no need for an answer. She kissed him back and he just let himself go, not caring about anything around him except for the woman in front of him.
The days went by quicker than expected, summer bustling over the capital like never before. Soon enough August arrived, which brought in Melissa's birthday and eventually the celebration Damon spent weeks planning. As promised, much was not spent but that didn't mean an effort wasn't made to give a memorable party. Considering her ideas and wishes, he kept it simple: a get-together with friends at the Groucho, the Soho club usually frequented by musicians. Melissa secretly wished for this to be the chosen location so when she arrived with Damon, she was beyond surprised. He was really endeavouring to win her over. "Are you trying to impress me?" He reflected for an instant before he responded: "Yes." "Well, so far so good." She went on to receive congratulating hugs and some small but thoughtful gifts. From her wide smile and the twinkle in her eyes, Damon sensed he had definitely accomplished causing an impact on her.
The music took on a whole different vibe. At least it's what it seemed to Melissa, who had the urge to start moving rhythmically even standing alone by the bar. Making sure no one looked at her, she moved her hips and shoulders thoroughly and closed her eyes going with the flow. She felt sexy, what with the music, her dancing, the environment around her. She was relieved to not be seen but was unconciously wishing for certain someone to be teased by her moves. Little did she know she was been observed with ardent eyes, desire fully awoken over the woman's sensual sway. How come someone so young could cause such feelings? They found themselves in her hands, willing to do anything for her. The question was if she realized this.
She made her way through the crowd, going up the stairs in order to go to the restroom. She did not exactly dance nonstop, but the heat was suffocating due to the place being packed so she needed to refresh herself. Once inside she opened the tap and got her neck and shoulders dampen. Ah, much better. Her hands proceeded to grab more water when the door swung open. In walked Paul and stopped on his track when he saw her. "Um, you do realize you're in the girls' bathroom." "I know." He closed the door behind him, never tearing his sight away from her. She had never seen him this way before, his body completely stiff and his stare intense, fixed on her. "Are you okay?" "Yeah, I'm fine, never been better." But his body language remained as before. Melissa started feeling anxious and not in a good way. He was just standing there still, with that unblinking stare. What was he to do? He started walking towards her, edging closer and closer. "Paul..." Next thing she knew, he grabbed her shoulder and gave her the most eager kiss she had ever received. Not only his lips, but his whole self exteriorized his deep yearning for her. As sudden as it appeared, he broke off and realizing what he did, was only able to mumble: "Forgive me. Just...forgive me", and left the restroom hastily. Melissa was too stunned to react. Her friends were right. How long had he been feeling so? "Oh my God, he likes me. He really likes me..."
