Lonesome Prisoners

Tired of it all
this misery of city
its shaterring beings
blending with the roughness
making an all too dangerous sight
paradise for scumbags

At once boring old town
peacemakers replaced
by cheap money-grabbers
trading doves for paper
dignity minimized
for a mere spot on the diaries

Nice house, engines, fancy dinners
Does it even matter?
It is well known excess drives to madness
without your even realizing
blindness remanins though
everyone happy in their ignorance
surrounded by golden walls
prisoners of their own greed

Sell outs joined by criminals
henchmen on open season
every corner under siege
we're solely hostages with no aid
placed onto no man's land as either's shield
Big Brother caring not for the outcome
turning its nose for the dough
as we pray for salvation

There's no way out of here
to avoid temptation seems impossible
from all around: fortune, a place on the picture
these might change your mind, but really
Nice house, engines, fancy meals
Does it even matter then?
